THE BFI

Okay, I know I know, this isn't a film. However, I feel that this is an essential destination for anyone with a keen interest in film. Acting as the lead organisation for film in the UK, it is a cultural hub that celebrates everything cinema. Screening foreign language films and old cult classics, this is the perfect hang out for cinephiles.

The British Film Institute has an IMAX cinema, regular cinemas, specialised screenings, events and Q&As, a gift shop and a restaurant and café. There is also a library available to the public.
They support UK film and also provide a fantastic space to learn more about film history. If you happen to be along the South Bank, it is located right next to the National Theatre.
I worked in the BFI for six weeks, and managed to see and hear of some pretty cool events. The best thing I got to do was attend a screening and Q&A for Chiwetel Ejiofor's directorial debut, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind (now on Netflix - check it out). However, a week after I left they held a festival attended by industry professionals - including a panel with Maisie Williams (yep that’s Arya from Game of Thrones to most of us). So basically, it's a cool place to spend some spare time!

Tips and Tricks: they do special discount prices for students!
There is cool movie memorabilia on display 📽
